The Maleku Indian Tribe is the smallest in Costa Rica with only 650 people left! The Maleku community keeps its traditions, culture and the Maleku language alive and are very proud to have done so.
What matters most to the Maleku people is the FOREST because this equals LIFE! The Maleku believe that the birds are our sisters and the animals are our brothers. It is their dream to hear the jaguars and have the falcons consider this home again and they are working towards realizing this dream! Reforestation is an important part of the Maleku culture and important to the Costa Rican people as well. Reforestation includes not only trees and plants but fruit trees which helps to bring the animals back to where they belong. La tribu indígena Maleku es la mas pequeña de Costa Rica con solamente 650 personas! La comunidad Maleku mantiene sus tradiciones, cultura y la lengua Maleku viva y están muy orgullosos de lo que han hecho.
Lo que más importa para el Maleku es el bosque porque esto equivale a la vida! Los Malekus creen que las aves son nuestras hermanas y los animales son nuestros hermanos. Es su sueño poder oír los jaguares, halcones y lo que ellos consideran su casa de nuevo y están trabajando para realizar este sueño! La reforestación es una parte importante de la cultura Maleku e importante también para los Costarricenses. Reforestación incluye no sólo los árboles y las plantas también las plantas frutales que contribuye a llevar los animales a donde pertenecen. |
