This zone of Costa Rica has the perfect climate for growing fruits & vegetables.  The Maleku people live off the land by respecting mother nature and treating the land with respect.  Only organic fertilizers are used and what is "taken out" of the land must be "put back".  The list of items grown for consumption is long:
Bananas, rice, beans, yucca, nampi/tiquisque, malanga chamor, breadfruit, water apples/malay apple, palm nut, yam, papayas, guava, guayaba, watermelon, plantains, mango, corn, orange, limes, pineapple & more!

Esta zona de Costa Rica tiene el clima perfecto para el cultivo de frutas & hortalizas. Las personas de Maleku viven de la tierra, respetando la madre naturaleza y tratando la tierra con respeto. Sólo se usan fertilizantes orgánicos y lo que está "fuera" de la tierra se debe de "poner de vuelta". La lista de productos cultivados para consumo es larga:

Bananos, arroz, frijoles, yuca, ñampi/tiquizque, malanga / chamol, fruta de pan, manzanas de agua, pejibaye, yampi,  papayas, guayaba, sandia, plántanos, manga, maíz, naranjas, limones, piña y mucho mas.
